Davide Carlone

Boca ,
Alto Piemonte, Piemonte, Italy

About the producer

Carlone diligently tends to his vineyards using organic practices, prioritizing sustainability and environmental stewardship. While he retains a small portion of the fruit for his own use, he sells off a significant portion to Le Piane, contributing to the production of their renowned wines. With this prized fruit, Davide meticulously crafts a limited quantity of naturally made wine, celebrated for its exceptional character, complexity, and exquisite concentration. To infuse a fresh perspective into his winemaking, he has enlisted the expertise of consultant Emiliano Falsini who brings vigor and an innovative approach to the region.

The focal point of Davide's wines revolves around three grape varieties: Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Croatina, sourced from 100-year-old vines. In Boca, both Croatina and Nebbiolo exhibit utterly unique expressions due to the cooler climate and distinctive terroir. The soil in Boca predominantly comprises volcanic porphyry, as the hills in this small area are remnants of a once-active volcano.
