Condé winery is located on the hills surrounding Predappio, which has long been considered the true cradle of Sangiovese. The Condello family, who now own and run the winery, are making serious waves in Romagna with their pure, distinct expressions of Sangiovese. In 2001 Francesco Condello decided to leave the world of finance after spending 30 years in the field to pursue his greatest passion – winemaking. Recognizing the great potential of the Predappio region, he and his family purchased 24 small plots of land from local farmers which make up their vineyard holdings today. At the helm of the winery is Francesco’s 30 year old daughter Chiara who brings experience and inspiration from her time studying and working in Burgundy and Bordeaux. After studying in Milan and working and traveling abroad in vineyards around the world she returned to take over the family business in 2012. With help from legendary consultant and winemaker Federico Staderini, Chiara has become one of the most dynamic rising stars in the region of Romagna, crafting beautiful, honest wines that speak of her family’s land and of the region as a whole.
Condé produces three levels of Sangiovese from the family land as well as a new single vineyard bottling that features a specific plot that receives the most intense sunrays “Raggio Brusa”. They also make a small amount of Chardonnay and a Merlot, “Massera” that can easily compete with great offerings from Tuscany and beyond.
